The Streets are Empty!

The "Empty America" series begins in San Francisco. From the Golden Gate Bridge to Fisherman's Wharf to Lombard Street to Ghirardelli Square to the Bay Bridge - get a good look at some of San Francisco's most iconic landmarks (wiped empty of tourists and traffic).

This is really something. It's a fine example of what one can do with time lapse photography, and also features many of the locations in San Francisco where Cabrio Taxi pedicabs are often found including AT&T Park, Market Street, the Ferry Building, Golden Gate Park, Chinatown, the Marina, Fisherman's Wharf, and Ghirardelli Square. Erasing the traffic creates a eerie snapshop our city, but one where we can imagine a fine day for a pedicab ride! To learn how it was done, check out Ross Ching's erasing the streets tutorial on YouTube.

Ever Seen a Bike With A Sidecar? You Have Now.

The collections of the sadly shuttered Pedaling History Museum in Orchard Park, NY are up for auction in a few weeks at the Copake Auction House in New York State's beautiful and currently freezing Hudson Valley. Copake is THE place for antique bicycle aficionados who usually convene during Copake's main bicycle auction in April of each year, when the weather is more hospitable. This year, Copake has planned three auction dates just for its bicycles and bicycle-related auctions, so they are serious about their bikes.

It's a wild ride, and if you want to learn about bicycle design, sidecars, and bicycling history, this is the place to learn. Father and son owners and auctioneers Mike and Seth Fallon infuse their quick talking auction speak with the history and significance of each item; its easy to see their love of bikes.

This bike is a partially restored c. 1915 pneumatic which sold for $2100.00. Take a look at Copake's Antique and Classic Bicycle Auction website to learn more.
