Cabrio and Levi's - Free Rides Again!

levis.jpg

"I've never ridden on one of these before, but now I'm going to ride one to the game every time," - Ryan, age 9.

Cabrio and Levi's have paired up again for what some riders are calling Giants Fan Appreciation Week.

For the Giants' last home stand, versus the Dodgers and then the Padres, Levi's is using Cabrio to give back to the baseball community - Free Rides to the games!

"This is the best way to get around! -Marcia from San Jose

All 24 pedicabs have been activated - full Levi's wrapping on the bikes, drivers outfitted in Levi's jeans, and best of all, shirts that read 'Free Rides Provided by Levi's.' Fans have been wildly appreciative of the rides, from the parking lot to the game, BART to the stadium, back to their cars, or to one of the many places to eat and drink around AT & T Park.

For some fans, it's their first time on a pedicab, but many others remember Cabrio and Levi's from the World Series last year, and even from 2011!

Giving back to the community is part of Levis' DNA, and Cabrio is proving to be the perfect fleet for the job. Who needs to sit in traffic or walk from BART when a Cabrio pedicab is free and close at hand? Hop in - it's on Levi's!

From the Giants Fans, the Riders, and all of San Francisco.

Thanks, Levi's!

Thumbs Up for Pedicabbing With Mayor Ed Lee

Cabrio Taxi Pedicabber Jordan represented the SF Pedicab Community at the Jefferson Street re-opening last week. Jefferson Street, on Fisherman's Wharf between Hyde and Jones, has been closed for construction for the past several months to make it more safe and pedestrian friendly. There is now more sidewalk space, the street is two ways, and the pedestrian crossings are more reliable and quick. These updates will benefit visitors for the America's Cup as well as the millions of tourists who visit San Francisco each year. For pedicab drivers, the improved street area means more safety and more fun - less fighting with traffic = happier drivers and passengers.

Bikes, segways, scooters, and several other forms of transportation turned out for the opening parade. Jordan had a chance to chat with the mayor, and as it turns out, Mayor Ed Lee - "Loves pedicabs!"

Cabrio loves you, too, Mayor Lee. Come get a pedicab ride from us anytime.

Mission Accomplished! Victorious Team Cabrio Completes 2013 AIDS/Lifecycle

done.jpg

ALC Riders brought the total number of miles ridden to an incredible 20 million this year! The hills of California didn't seem all that tough to pedicabbers Mike Oliva, Micah Davis, Peter Lugo, Mimosa Andre, and Geoff Abraham, after pedicabbing the streets of San Francisco on a regular basis for the past few years. Even Melissa Oliva, Mike's wife who talked the team into forming, felt like she was trained and ready to take on the ride for the second year in a row.

Together, the team raised over $35,000 to support the San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. The ride was an amazing experience - challenging, team building, eye opening, and just plain fun.

Team Cabrio plans to return to the ALC 2014 in full force - bring it on, California! But for now, they would like to thank their generous donors, friends, family, and greater pedicab community for the outpouring of support, love and encouragement they experienced on this journey. They couldn't have done it without you!

The Bay Lights

bay_lights.jpg

http://vimeo.com/58165949 Most of what we hear when folks talk about the Bay Bridge are reports or complaints about traffic, construction and overbudget seismic retrofits. But coming in March, the Bay Bridge will be host to something other than a traffic jam. The Bay Lights is an art installation that melds art and technology and symbolizes the relationship between the two. Made of of 25,000 LED lights installed on various spans of the structure, the grand illumination is set for March 5, though we are lucky enough at Cabrio's shop to see some of the evening dress rehearsals as we have a bird's eye view of the south span of the bridge from our lounge. We are proud to serve as a partner for next week's grand lighting celebration on March 5 at 8:30pm and look forward to seeing you there.

http://vimeo.com/41574472 A video rendering of the planned sculpture. We can't wait to see the real thing on a pedicab by the Bay (Bridge)!
